Detailed description:

We have carefully restored Casa Tagomago to make it a comfortable and labour saving holiday home. With all the modern devices we are all used to, but in rustic and welcoming surroundings.
Each room looks out on to the magnificent views, with the orange groves lying just below the house.
We've furnished the living-room/dining-room with good armchairs and a sofa, a wood burning stove and a round table for 8 people. The kitchen, decorated in country style is adjacent to the dining area and is very well equipped. Also on the ground floor, we have a double bedroom, a shower room, with walk in shower, and a utility room. The patio is accessible from the living-room, the kitchen and the double bedroom. This patio is ideal for dining 'al fresco', sunbathing or simply relaxing by our small pool, while contemplating the views.
Upstairs we have 2 twin bedded rooms, a family bathroom, and, in the centre of this floor, a second living-room, with a double sofa bed, the TV and books and games. Each room has it's own balcony overlooking the patio.
The roof terrace, with it's own furniture, is wonderful for lunch on cooler days, or suppers in the summer, or just 'toasting' oneself in the sun!
We have installed night storage heaters, so we are prepared for winter visitors as well. In summer, the thickness of the walls, and the position of the house itself, help to keep it cool. Each bedroom has a built in wardrobe and open shelving.
The ground floor is designed to accommodate visitors with impaired mobility.
As the village streets are very narrow, it is not possible to park outside the house. The nearest parking is about 15 metres away.

Description of the area:

We chose Restabal for it's excellent situation, in beautiful countryside. The Lecrin Valley is dotted with villages, all of them charming and friendly. Granada is only a 30 minute drive from the house, and with the new road, the drive to the coast takes the same time. It is an ideal base for exploring Granada and the province. Lanjaron, the gateway to La Alpujarra, is only 20 minutes away. Both Jaen and Malaga are easily visited in a day.
Melegis and Saleres are within walking distance. Restabal has 3 bars, 3 small supermarkets, a chemist, bank and a baker. All very near the house. Local tradesmen visit daily, in their little vans, offeing all sorts of goods, and the village markets are well worth visiting.

Remarks:

Granada airport is about 40 minutes drive.
Malaga airport is about an hour and a half's drive, on the coast road.
The A44 is about 15 minutes from Restabal. It can neither be seen nor heard from the house.

Leisure activities:

Being situated on the GR7/E4 walking route, makes the whole area a walker's paradise. There are routes for all aptitudes, from a gentle stroll down by the river to the shores of Lake Beznar, to the hiking routes of several hours that criss-cross the Valley. There are also many excursions available in La Alpujarra. Outings on horse back are also organised periodically.
Granada is a magical city and offers a wide range of cultural activities. La Alhambra, of course, is the highlight of any visit to the area.
La Costa Tropical boasts several enticing beaches, with a very good choice of restaurants. Salobreña is an enchanting village, with the moorish castle high on it's rock, looking out to sea.

From Malaga on the coast road A7 towards Almeria, turning off towards Granada just after Salobreña, on to the A44, and Exit 160 - El Valle.
