This beautiful characteristic house, with spectacular views out across the sea to the medieval castle of Castelsardo and further to the island of Asinara, is set on the outskirts of the hillside hamlet of Azzagulta
The house, which we lovingly restored to retain the original characteristics whilst giving all the comforts, consists of large lounge/dining room with sofabed and wood burning fire and kitchen area with all facilities for cooking. Master double bedroom, 2nd double bedroom, 3rd bedroom with twin beds, and a large, beautiful bathroom with all conveniences inc. a huge open shower. There is a washing machine and laundry area; a storeroom with a separate toilet, there is also a T.V., stereo, DVD and MP3 player in the lounge. The house has its own courtyard garden at the front with a large table for eating "al fresco", and a couple of sun loungers.The house is 9 minutes from the fabulous long white sand beach of Badesi Mare, where there are facilities for various water sports, several café bars on the beach, deckchairs and loungers for hire, and of course the wonderful clear turquoise sea. The local villages of Viddalba and Badesi are 5 minutes away in each direction, and between them you will find all facilities for shopping, including supermarkets, grocers, bakers, butchers (local organic meat), chemist, post offices and banks, as well as various cafés and bars. 500 metres down the road is an ‘Agriturismo’ or farmers restaurant, where the proprietor produces everything served on the table, including salami, pecorino (sheep’s cheese), home made pastas, suckling pig, Sardinian sweets and great local wine and liquors and of course one can walk home. There are many other restaurants and pizzerias in the local villages, as well as in the local seaside town of Valledoria (10 minutes).
There are lots of local festivals and all are invited, the Gallurese are known for their warm hospitality. Above all in Sardinia you will find tranquillity with its miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside, it remains one of the few beautiful "undiscovered" holiday islands left in Europe.

Description of the area:

Situated in the magnificent area of Gallura in the North of Sardinia, within easy driving distance of the many and varied coves, bays and white sand beaches of the crystal clear seas of both “Costa Paradiso” and “Costa Smeralda” you will find locals selling freshly grown fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, wine and fresh fish along the coast road.
The house is 10 minutes from the Thermal stretch of the River Coghinas, where you can take mud baths, bennefit from the healing waters, or just sit on the beach relax and soak up the wonderful atmosphere
Travelling inland you will find undisturbed countryside, with mountains and cork or oak forests, with wild mushrooms, wild boar and a wonderful variety of Mediterranean fauna and flora.

We recommend car hire through the internet, reasonably cheap and fairly essential in Sardinia.

Apart from the huge variety of beaches, locally there are also the possibilities for all water sports as well as diving, hiking, cycling, horse riding, river canoeing, amongst others. There are a variety of Ancient sites, museums, villages and towns of interest, as well as many local Fiestas.

Wellness offer:

There is a local stretch of Thermal River, with a beach, where one can take the waters, indulge in mud baths or just soak up the wonderful peaceful atmosphere. There are several well-being centres, where one can find all sorts of therapies or use the seawater pools.
