Detailed description:

You enter the cottage through the separate lean-to, the entrance where you can leave your boots and coats. As you enter the one room cottage you look out of the big windows into uninterrupted views of the surrounding grazing land, the mountains and volcano Hekla. Light floods into the space also through the double french door leading out onto the deck. From the sitting area and dining table you have a great view onto horse pastures and further onto the highlands and volcano Hekla. Next to the well equipped kitchenette is the separate shower room with WC. Going up the 'chicken ladder' you reach the sleeping loft which has room for up to 4 mattresses. It is cozy here and you can look out of the window when lying down and - depending on the time of year- you might even see Northern Lights! The sofa in the living area pulls out into a french bed. Around the house is open countryside, below it are some horse pastures and a stream. Children - and grown ups - are welcome to explore our 130 hectare along the paths.

A very convenient and central location for a variety of day trips to all attractions in the south of Iceland. F. ex: Geyrsir, Pingvellir, waterfall Gullfoss (GOLDEN CIRCLE TOUR); vulcano Hekla museum, bottom of the vulcano and the highlands, replica of one of the first settlements (Stöng); waterfalls Seljalandsfoss, Skogar and Skogar farming museum; Vík black beach and bird rocks; Blue Lagoon and scenic drive to hot springs Krisuvik; Reykjavik. Central location for day trips to the best natural attractions of South Iceland. Absolute peace and nature all around. Walks on paths on our 130 hektare ( 320 acres) property past horse pastures. Hella 20km, Selfoss 30km, Reykjavik 80km.

Horse riding and swimming pool ( 6km away), bird watching (up to 25 species during summer), walking, day trips to many of Icelands best known attractions ( more information in the house).

How to find us:

Detailed information upon booking. From Reykjavik about 1 hour drive (80km total), from the main ring road 12km. Between river Pjorsa and the town of Hella. The last kms are gravel road but four wheel drive is NOT necessary. About 1 hours drive to see the VOLCANIC ERUPTION!
