The scenery of the volcanic island of Sao Miguel is versatile and varied. High mountain ranges, soft and sheer coast lines, quiet tablelands, deep craters with crater lakes, and hot springs with steaming Fumaroles. Wherever you look, the road sides and the fields are lined with hortensia.


Special sites and lookouts: View from Vista do Rei onto the crater lake Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul, steaming Fumaroles and hot water waterfalls at Ribeira Grande, hot springs in the sea at Mosteiros, etc.

Description of the area:

In Candelaria, there is a small super market with a bar and a cash machine (ATM). The town Ponta Delgada with its international airport is about 20 km away. In the historic centre of the town, there are plenty of possibilities to have a feast or for shopping around.
