Description of the area:

Roussospiti, 6 kilometers far from Rethymno, is located on the roots of Vrissinas, 300 m. above the sea level. Among the few places in Rethymno, where the Venetian era masterpieces are perfectly preserved, you should visit the Venetian fountain in the center of the village, the wall painted church of Panagia, as well as the Venetian buildings in the place "Kamara".

Rethymno – Roussospiti

Leaving the city center to the east, we find, direction right, Theotocopoulou Street, which we keep following.

Going up the road leading to the hill, 7 kilometers from the diversion sign to Mikra Anoyia, we reach the newly preserved Monastery of Agia Irini, next and south of the dorp having the same name.

Following the same road we reach the Venetian buildings and the fountain in Roussospiti after two kilometers.

From the same point we continue to reach Chromonastiri, where one can visit the churches of Panagia Kera and Agios Eftihios, as well as the Venetian Villa Clodio. Leaving Chromontastiri, 1,5 kilometers south we arrive at the deserted Myloi village. To visit Myloi one has to cross the path and the gorge in which the village was built. The village was named after the many water mills having existed; when visited one can enjoy the rich plantation and its picturesque view.
